LESIONS
The definition of a lesion is “something abnormal.”
1˚ skin lesions refers to the first rash.
2˚ skin lesions are modifications of the 1˚ lesions (if it cracks, or dries out). Eg, scales, crusts, fissures, ulcerations.
Macule - flat discoloration
Patch - flat lesion WITH secondary change
Papule - small bump
Nodule - big bump
Plaque - plateau
Maculopapular Rash - most common rash presentation. Common in drug reactions, scarlet fever, syphilis, and many viruses.
Morbilliform - measles-like appearance
